Google Pixel 4 XL vs iPhone 11 Pro – who will win this battle of the giants? There are literally hundreds of smartphones on the market and every year their number is increasing with dozens of new models. Yet, it seems that those who are into high-end models have just a few choices. When people are ready to spend more money on a smartphone, they are usually looking for Samsung S-series phones, Google Pixel or iPhones. These manufacturers are introducing new models almost every year. At this moment, there are a few hot models like this like Google Pixel 4 XL and iPhone 11 Pro.

There is no doubt that these smartphones represent the crème of mobile devices today. They are literally like small computers with amazing features and high-quality cameras. They are equipped with excellent batteries and feature durable, premium parts.

When comparing these two models of smartphones which by the way were released in September and October, we should take many things into account. Most people are interested in their cameras and battery life and how they can repair them if something goes wrong and that’s why we have prepared separate sections for these issues. But, before we highlight these topics and provide answers, we would like to compare the rest of the features and parts of these devices.

Now let’s pay closer attention to the display of iPhone 11 Pro. This time, Apple has decided to go with Super Retina XDR OLED capacitive touchscreen that boasts 16 million colors. As expected, the size of the screen is slightly smaller – 5.8 inches, but it has good screen-to-body ratio. The resolution you can expect here is 1125 x 2436 pixels and a pixel density of 458 PPI. It seems that the guys from Apple have used great protection for the screen – oleophobic coating and scratch-resistant glass. The screen meets HDR10 standards and Dolby Vision. As for the Google Pixel 4 XL, you can expect to find a P-OLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors. The display is significantly bigger (0.5 inches bigger) compared to iPhone 11 Pro. But, what’s interesting is that the screen-to-ratio is slightly worse. Google Pixel 4 XL has a better resolution too – 1440 x 3040 pixels and 537 PPI density. There’s a good protection of the display too – Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

First of all, the iPhone 11 Pro is smaller compared to Google Pixel 4 XL. The most noticeable difference is the fact that Google Pixel is 16 mm higher than the iPhone. However, we should mention that while iPhone 11 Pro is made of glass on the front and back just like Google Pixel 4 XL, it comes with a stainless steel frame which is probably better than the aluminum frame that Google has used this time.

It’s difficult to compare the hardware elements like CPU, GPU and chipsets here because they use completely different hardware. In iPhone 11 Pro, users will find Apple A13 Bionic chipset which is the latest product of Apple. This device also has Apple GPU with 40core graphics and Hexa-core CPU that includes 2×2.65 GHz Lightning and 4×1.8 GHz Thunder. Google Pixel 4 XL has Adreno 640 GPU as well as Octa-core CPU with 1×2.84 GHz Kryo 485 and 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 485 and 4×1.78 GHz Kryo 485. The chipset found in this device is Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855. It runs on Android 10 while iPhone 11 Pro runs on iOS 13.

Both of these devices are equipped with great features. They also have NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 support.

Pixel 4 XL Camera

When devices like this (high-end, expensive smartphones) are released, one of the first things that people want to know is what kind of camera these devices have. Obviously, you won’t be disappointed in both cases. The main Pixel 4 XL camera has 12.2 MP. It also features dual pixel PDAF and OIS. But, there’s another surprise here. This is actually a dual camera. The second camera, unlike the first one which is wide, is a telephoto camera with 16 MP. It has PDAF, 2x optical zoom, and OIS too. To get better images, Google has included dual-LED flash, panorama and auto-HDR features on its phone. As for taking videos, you can take 2160-pixel videos at 30 frames per second or 1080-pixel videos at 30, 60 and 120 frames per second.

Google Pixel 4 XL has a selfie camera too. This front camera has 8 MP and it’s a wide camera. It features auto-HDR and takes videos of 1080 pixels per 30 fps. What’s worth mentioning is that iPhone 11 Pro has three main cameras – wide, telephoto and ultrawide and they all have 12 MP. You can take 2160-pixel videos of up to 60 frames per second with these cameras. The front camera has 12 MP, but it lacks auto-HDR, it has HDR only. However, unlike Google Pixel 4 XL, this phone can take 2160-pixel videos at up to 60 frames per second.

iPhone 11 Pro Battery Life vs Pixel 4 XL

You won’t be able to enjoy all these features for a long time if there’s no durable battery. Generally speaking, both iPhone and Pixel users can be satisfied with the battery life they can expect from these latest devices. The battery life of iPhone 11 Pro is estimated at 86 hours while Google Pixel 4 XL has battery life of 73 hours. This makes sense because the manufacturers have not used the same types of batteries.

Apple has used 3046 mAh lithium-ion battery while Google has included a 3700 mAh lithium-ion-polymer battery. They are both non-removable batteries. The good news is that users can charge the batteries very fast thanks to the fast battery charging feature (18 W). As expected, both iPhone and Google Pixel have Qi wireless charging available to users.
