iPhone 14 Pro vs Samsung S22 ultra
Two of the most popular modern smartphones to date are iPhone 14 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. While both are excellent phones by any means, the question remains which phone remains on top? Below you’ll find our analysis of the specs of these two phones and what they have to offer.

Built Quality

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is bigger phone than the iPhone 14 Pro. It has dimensions of 163.3 x 77.9 x8.9 mm, against iPhone’s 160.7 x 77.6 x 7.85 mm. However, the Samsung phone is a bit lighter in weight, weighing 228 grams, to iPhone’s 240 grams. Both phones have IP68 water and dust resistance.

The Samsung phone is built of aluminum and the iPhone is built from stainless steel. The iPhone has somewhat curved corners which makes it easier to hold the phone. The S22 Ultra has Gorilla Glass Victus+ and the iPhone 14 Pro has a Ceramic Shield coating. This makes both phones sturdy – but you’ll still need to pay attention not to drop them.

Camera Specs Comparisons

One of the most important aspects of a modern phone is the camera. The new iPhone has gotten an incredible camera upgrade. The 12MP main camera has been switched to a 48MP quad-pixel censor. The S22, though, comes with a 108MP main sensor.

Despite their powerful camera specs, the phones handle colors differently. The iPhone does better with warmer and more natural colors, while the S22 Ultra prefers more vivid, cooler colors. In terms of videos, they tend to be much smoother on the iPhone. The 8K support on S22 Ultra is impressive – but it’s not a technology that will be used by most people.

Processor Performance Comparison

The S22 Ultra phones are built with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200. The iPhone is built with the new and improved A16 bionic chip. Both phones have impressive processors. However, the iPhone’s A16 Bionic hasn’t found a match anywhere on the market. The difference in processing power may be more obvious during gaming. It won’t be obvious during any regular day-to-day usage of the phones.

Display Comparison (Both Manufactured by Samsung)

The S22 Ultra features a bit bigger screen coming at 6.8 inches, as opposed to iPhone’s 6.7 inches. Both phones have excellent displays, but Samsung seems to take the cake here. The Samsung phone has a 6.8-inch LTPO Dynamic AMOLED 2x with a 1440×3080 resolution. It has 1,750 nits of peak brightness and 500 PPI, alongside a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, with HDR10+.

The iPhones has a 6.7-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 1290×2796. It has 2,000 nits of peak brightness and 460 PPI. It has 120Hz ProMotion, alongside HDR 10. Who makes the display for iPhone 14 Pro? The iPhone 14 Pro OLED Display is manufactured by Samsung in Korea, the Galaxy S22 OLED Display is manufactured by Samsung Korea.

Storage and Ram

The S22 Ultra phone has 8/12GBs of RAM, with 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB of storage. The iPhone has 6GBs of RAM, with 128GB/256GB/512G/1TB of storage. Don’t let the RAM difference mislead you. The Apple Silicon is very efficient, which means that it requires less RAM than Android devices. So, if you compare the 6GB RAM iPhone with the 8GB RAM Samsung, you won’t notice any major differences. There will be some differences, though, if you go for the 12GB RAM S22 Ultra phone.

In terms of storage, there are no differences, as both phones start at 128GB and go to 1TB of storage space. Neither the iPhone nor the S22 Ultra has a MicroSD slot.

Battery Capacity Comparison

The S22 Ultra has a 5000mAh battery with 45W of fast wired charging and 15W of wireless charging. It also has a 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The iPhone has a 4323mAh battery with 15W of MagSafe wireless charging support. It has 7.5W with Qi wireless charging. It charges up to 50% in 30 minutes.

Both phones have a near identical battery life. However, the S22 Ultra charges a lot faster due to the 45W fast-charging feature.

iPhone 14 Pro vs Samsung S22 Ultra Price Compared

Both phones have a similar price. The S22 Ultra’s base price was $1,199, while Samsung charged $1,599 for the maxed-out version. The iPhone sells for $1,099 for the base version and $1,599 for the maxed-out version. Regardless, these prices of these phones tend to fluctuate in time. So, you may find an even better deal than the one you see here. There are many places you van buy the new iPhone 14 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra in Australia – we recommend JBHIFi, Harvey Norman, Mobile Trade, Telstra or Optus.

iPhone 14 Pro Repairability Compared to S22 Ultra Repairs

The iPhone 14 makes it a lot easier to repair the display and the rear glass. In older models of the phone, this was a lot more difficult. You weren’t able to do these repairs without first removing the True Depth camera module. This time around, you won’t have to remove it, making repairs a lot easier.

The Samsung S22 Ultra is more difficult to repair. Even experienced phone-repair experts may end up breaking the fine small parts of the phone. It’s the way the phone is built. This is not to say that you can’t do repairs on the S22 Ultra. It’s just a more complex task that demands the touch of an expert. As such, it may be less cost-efficient, too.

Make the Right Choice

There’s no argument that Samsung and Apple are the two leading brands in the world of smartphones. And they have been the leading brands for quite a while now. The iPhone 14 Pro and the S22 Ultra further show that this is the case. Both phones have a similar price and similarly powerful specs. However, there are some differences that may make a difference for some people.

This is why it’s important to read reviews such as this one. It will help you make the right choice so that you can be happy with your purchase. This is not to say that you’ll err if you purchase either of the two flagship phones. However, since the price can be rather steep for a phone, it would behoove you to spend some time doing research. Only then will you be able to assess the phones properly and make a purchase. We hope that you’ve learned something by reading our review and that you’ll have fun using your new phone.
